A flower girl is usually a young girl who has a special connection to the bride and groom. Perhaps she is a niece or cousin, or a family friend. She follows behind the bridesmaids with a basket of flowers, scattering them down the aisle. Typically, a flower girl is under 10, because she is meant to symbolize of purity, virginity, childhood and youth, and she directly precedes the person being honored by the procession; in the case of a wedding, this means that the flower girl walks ahead of the bride, they typically wear simple white dresses to accentuate their youth, although they may wear colored sashes or other decorations to coordinate with the rest of the procession. Some flower girls simply carry flowers, while others distribute flowers to the crowd and the observers. In weddings, it is traditional for flower girls to scatter flowers and petals down the aisle, so that the bride walks along a carpet of flowers. Often, flowers with a symbolic meaning and a pleasant scent such as roses are chosen for the flower girl.
Being a flower girl will add to her confidence and ups the cuteness quotient. Avoid choosing someone who is too young – she will be confused and perhaps scared. Often, a flower girl is dressed in a mini-version of the bride’s wedding dress(Robe de Mariée), or a white dress with a sash that matches the bridesmaid dresses. But you can choose any sweet dress that matches the style of the wedding. Make sure it’s comfortable and not too long, so that she won’t be pulling at her dress or tripping down the aisle. If your flower girl doesn’t like dresses, choose a pants outfit with the same level of formality as the bridesmaid dresses(Robe Demoiselle D’honneur). Since the parents typically pay for their daughter’s dress, try to choose something relatively inexpensive, you can search some cheap wedding dresses shop for them before the wedding.
Robe Mariage
Robe de Soirée Fillette
At the year of seven, I have been asked to act as flower girl for my uncle’s wedding. I was really excited about that invitation, waiting for my mother to buy me beautiful flower girl dresses(Robe de Soirée Fillette). Unfortunately, that was just a little kid’s illusion because in our remote hometown flower girl dress was just a distant star which only appeared on our TV screen. As a result, mom just dressed me in a new skirt for that special day. Now I have already grown up into a graceful lady, sometimes when being invited to friend’s weddings, I can’t help looking at the flower girl with admiration because of her pretty dresses, that’s one of my unfulfilled childhood wish.
